Silk chiffon scarf embellished with Swarovski crystals
This gorgeous 12" square silk scarf is made of extra high quality Japanese silk with an array of contrasting sparkly Swarovski crystal colors. It can be worn around the neck but there is only about an inch left over on each side after tying in a knot. Quite sexy and extra soft.
This is how I make them:
I cut perfect squares using an age old time-consuming technique then hand stitch a rolled edge. I occasionally use contrasting thread to accentuate the handmade quality of the piece.
Next I double knot Swarovski crystals & pearls to both the front and back with a sturdy metallic thread. This is a very tedious process and well worth it for the effect!
The types of fabric I offer are:
A) 100% silk chiffon- shear, lightweight, very soft to the touch, flows breezily with your movements.
Available in: Creamy Ivory Chiffon, Matte Brown Chiffon, Lime Green with a hint of Olive Chiffon, ultra soft Japanese Pure Pink, ultra soft Japanese Pure Tangerine, Aqua Blue Crinkle, Lilac Crinkle
B) Black 100% silk organza is a solid, durable medium weight fabric with a stiff hand. It is like the night sky... the perfect backdrop to set the colors off the crystals with a cosmic flare.
C) Ultra sheer poly organza (100% polyester) is a very-very loose weave. This lightweight fabric is available in: Black- ultra loose weave, Russet Brown- loose weave, Shimmery White- ultra loose weave, Olive Green- loose weave
Organza offers the exact sexy bohemian look I was aiming for. This is the most delicate fabric by far and as such extra care must be taken to protect it from unnecessary harsh wear and tear. This is especially important when used as a wrist decoration which can be more exposed to external elements than a neck scarf.
How to care for your scarf: Hand wash in lukewarm water with a little liquid soap and lay flat on a towel to dry. Enjoy!
A little about me:
I appreciate hand made objects d'art and the old world style rarely found in America. I am influenced by great artists and designers and pride myself on developing original works of art that are inspired by others. I never copy others. That would be beneath the true artist within.
Art is Freeing. Art allows a free flow of energy- from the Universe/God through the artist's hands into the finished product. You don't always know what the end result will be when you dive in wholeheartedly. I find this to be a thrilling experience.
The act of making art... artistry... begets even more creativity... creation is a wonderful thing.
